Day 11: Eyasi Safari lodge
Rates as Per Person Sharing
OVERVIEW
Starts in Arusha, when you arrive on day 1 at your lodge. The climb begins at the remote, northern side of Kilimanjaro, near the Kenyan border. We hike through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak, then cross a barren desert saddle, before climbing up Kibo’s eastern crater wall. The Rongai route is a more gradual ascent and is therefore preferred by those with little or no backpacking experience. However, it is equally enjoyable for even the most hardened trekkers. With only six days on the mountain and only 4.5 days before the summit climb, there is little time for altitude acclimatization. This route ascends quickly and steady. It is recommended for climbers who lack the time to spend more days on the mountain. Our trips begin and end at Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport.

The camp itself is situated on the shore of the lake, amongst acacia and date palm vegetation and is part of a 200 acre family-owned farm. There are seven tents here, situated on wooden platforms and with thatched roofs. They are proper walk-in tents, with en suite bathrooms with showers, and whilst simple in their design, they are perfectly comfortable.
