13Days /12 Night

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire Manyara National Park

In the morning, you will be greeted by your guide and after an approximately 2-hour drive you will reach the Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park, your guide will open up the roof for a better viewing experience. The landscape is made up of seasonal marshes and a seemingly endless tree savannah with its mighty baobab trees. The park is home to the largest elephant herds in the north of Tanzania. After an extensive game drive, you will drive to Angata Tented Camp. Dinner and overnight

Day 2: Full day Tarangire NP.

This day will be spent entirely on game viewing through the park exploring the park’s vast habitats and landscape up to the Silalei swamp where during the dry season offers green pasture and water for the grazers and the predators follow them here. During the months of June to November when we have the seasonal migration of wildebeest and zebras the park bust into life with possibly the biggest concentration of wildlife outside Serengeti national park and the largest population of elephants per square kilometers in the world. Other sightings will include lions, cheetah, leopard, giraffes, and buffaloes and if you are lucky the rare wild dogs are found here. In the late afternoon stop four of your bush sundowner drinks which will be made by your guide.

Day 3: Tarangire NP - Gibbs Farm Lodge.

On your way to the gate, you will have some more time to see animals that you may not have seen yet. You continue to the multi-cultural town of Mto wa Mbu where you leave the African Rift Valley behind and make your way to the vegetation-rich crater highlands. Soon, the higher lands are reached and a wonderful view of the Maasai Plains and the Lake Manyara opens up before you. Photo stops will be taken and you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views. You then continue to Karatu and today’s destination: Plantation Lodge.

Day 4: Full day Ngorongoro.

Today you will drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down into the Ngorongoro Crater. Grass steppes and acacia forests are home to almost all the species of animals found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours, you have the chance of spotting the four of the big five – lion, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. After extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, you will leave the Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon and travel back to Karatu to spend another night at Farm of Dreams or Marera Valley Lodge.

Day 5: Karatu Town - Serengeti NP

Today you will set off to the Serengeti National Park. After passing the crater highlands, you will soon see the plains of the southern Serengeti and start to understand the meaning of the word “Serengeti” which stands for endless plain. We will visit a Site of many archaeological discoveries, including the estimated 1.7-million- year –old Zinjanthropus boisei fossil. A small museum overlooks the gorge itself, and a guide there will tell you the story of Leakey’s research and findings. After proceeding to Serengeti where we can see animals such as Elephants, Buffaloes, lions, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Giraffes, Zebras, Wildebeests, topi, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle and many more can be seen.

Day 6-7: Serengeti Central.

These two days are dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best. You will spend the night at Serengeti Heritage Camp.

Day 8: Serengeti - Dar-es-Salaam.

After breakfast leaving central Serengeti behind your head to the western corridor, with some nice picnic lunch packed to sustain you on the way, game viewing around the Grumeti River is always good year around, The area is home to the 18-20 feet crocodile, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, giraffe, lions, and colobus monkey. After a nice picnic lunch, you leave the park and head to Mwanza for your flight to Dar es Salaam.

Day 9: Dar-es-Salaam - Kigoma Town.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kigoma, on arrival you will be met by an enticing journeys representative and drive to the Kigoma hilltop hotel for lunch. Kigoma hilltop hotel is parched on the shows of Lake Tanganyika. After settling into your accommodation and having a nice lunch you will proceed and visit Dr. Livingstone monument in Ujiji the place where Richard Burton and John Speke first reached the shores of Lake Tanganyika in 1858. It is the site of the famous meeting held on 27th October 1871 when Henry Stanley met Dr. Livingstone, and reputedly uttered the famous words “Dr. Livingstone, I presume?” You will visit the Monument, museum and see the slave route

Day 10-11: Kigoma - Mahale Mountains NP.

Bid farewell to Kigoma hilltop hotel as you drive to Mgambo village for a boat journey to Mbali Mbali Mahale camp, your accommodation for the next two nights

Take off your shoes and allow your toes to sink into the sand, cast off the world behind, and enter the spirit of this extraordinary place. With no roads in the vicinity, there are only animal paths and jungle trails to wander. Nine species of primate inhabit this ancient forest but the chimpanzees that live here are the main attraction: a trek into their territory with an experienced guide for an encounter that will hold you in spellbound fascination as our closest living relatives play, forage and behave in an all-too-familiar manner. In the afternoon jump into the boat for an up-close bird watching and fishing expedition on the second deepest lake in the world after Lake Baikal

Day 12-13: Mahale - Kigoma - Dar-es-Salaam.

Leaving Mahale behind after great memories of encountering our closest relative we head to Kigoma hilltop hotel for dinner and overnight. We start with a boat ride followed by a road transfer to Kigoma. The next day after a relaxed breakfast you leave the hotel and drive to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam. It’s time to memories the wonderful moments you had in Tanzania tracking the chimps, elephants in Tarangire, the big five in Ngorongoro, and of course the great sightings of the big cats in the fable Serengeti national park, land in Julius Nyerere International Airport, and connect your flight home. Note No Dinner and accommodation on the Last day
