11 DAYS SOUTH AFRICA AND VICTORIA FALLS

This moderately active program is intended to offer an introduction to the two most South African experiences, animal game drives and the city of Cape town. Game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon to avoid mid-day heat when animals are at rest. During this tour, you may come into proximity of wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable. Certain inherent risks are involved which should be considered at your own discretion. Lesedi Cultural Village – Tour roughly departs at 10:30am from your hotel

Lesedi and its cultural experience of old and new Africa was co-founded by African explorer, Kingsley Holgate, who is renowned for his vast knowledge and passion for keeping the traditional African culture alive. He has ensured that every attraction to be found at Lesedi is not only fascinating, but enriching.  Enjoy Tribal Dancing & Singing and experience a taste our traditional cuisine & beer.

Pilanesberg is one of the oldest and largest volcanic complexes on earth. Spend the day touring the park and experience virtually all of the animal species native to southern Africa, including the Big 5. “A VOLCANO CRATER GAVE BIRTH TO THIS PARK”

Two Cities Tour – Depart 9am from your Hotel

Visit the Mandela Family Museum; Hector Peterson Memorial; Regina Mundi Church, with lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy true African cuisine (own account). Visit the Apartheid Museum or Constitution Hill and Johannesburg drive-by.

DAY 6: CAPE TOWN

Robben Island Tour

After collection, travel to the iconic V&A Waterfront where you will board the Robben Island Ferry (included) (weather permitting) for your voyage across the bay to the infamous maximum-security prison that once housed various political prisoners including the late Nelson Mandela. From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder of the price paid for freedom. The excursion includes a return ferry to the island, a bus tour on the island and an integrated tour of the prison. After the tour, board the ferry for your return to the mainland.

Cape Town Township Tour

Township tours are a must for anyone wanting to discover the other side of life in Cape Town. These tours take you from the legendary District Six area, to some of Cape Town’s thriving townships such as Langa and Khayelitsha. You will also have the chance to enjoy local delicacies as well as traditional dancing, healers, visit local schools, charismatic churches, shebeens and many other fascinating things. The people you meet on your township tour will leave you with a new appreciation of the South African philosophy of ‘Ubuntu’, as they share a bit of insight into daily life in the townships.

Full Day Table Mountain, City Tour & Sunset Cruise 

Bo-Kaap

Enjoy a drive through Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the culture, food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people. Formerly known as the Malay Quarter, this picturesque corner of Cape Town well-known for its vast collection of colorful houses and cobble stone streets, became home to the Cape Muslim community and many freed slaves after the abolition of slavery in 1834.

Company Gardens

Proceed to the Company Gardens located in the heart of the central business district. The park and heritage site was originally established in the early 1650s by the European Settlers arriving in the area. The gardens provided fresh fruit and vegetables to the ships seeking replenishment when rounding the Cape on their journey to the East. The Gardens now offer a natural retreat from the bustle of the City. Finish your tour of the Company Gardens with a stop at the South African Museum which houses a variety of important African zoology, palaeontology and archaeology collections.

The Castle of Good Hope

Continue your city tour with a stop at the Castle of Good Hope. Built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East Indian Company (VOC) as a maritime replenishment store, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. The drive through the city will also take you past the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall; from where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release in February 1990.

Table Mountain

Continue to Table Mountain where you shall reach the top by cable car (weather permitting). Enjoy the panoramic views over the city with Robben Island lying sleepily in Table Bay. Also, get a bird’s eye view over the Atlantic Seaboard.

Sunset Crusie – 7pm departure at V&A Waterfront

This 90-minute sunset cruises provides the ultimate view of the African sunset as it drops over Table Bay. Enjoy a sundowner whilst soaking in the breath-taking surroundings and the gentle sounds of the ocean.

Morning breakfast – Pick up at hotel at 9:15am for Tour of the falls

Tour of Victoria Falls – Approximately 2.5hrs long 

If there is any magic in this world, perhaps it is contained in water. There is a little bit of heaven reflected on earth in the curtain of water that cascades down into the heart of the world that is The Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls possess a beauty that is impossible to replicate through any man-made efforts, a natural wonder created by Mother Nature as a reminder of her power and complexity. A trip to Southern Africa would not be complete without laying eyes on this incredible spectacle.

A guided tour of the falls enables you to delve into the local customs and traditions while gaining insight into how such an exquisite creation came to be. During the dry season the Victoria Falls is best viewed from the Zimbabwean side. The Zimbabwe adventure ends at a craft market at the entrance of the rainforest, where guests can appreciate the talent of local craftsmen and purchase memorabilia of this special experience.
