At the Kigali genocide memorial and the campaign against genocide, you will get to know all about the country's background and learn the truth about the cause of the recent bloodiest genocide through the tangible testimonies and images.

After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you head to Akagera National Park. Akagera National Park covers 2500 km² of savannah west of the Kagera River, in the north-east of Rwanda.

The park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 different species of birds. Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while you might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a lion. Giraffe and zebra haunt the savannah, and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park.

You will have lunch, and in the afternoon you will go for an afternoon game drive and then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will go for a game drive in the park in search of wildlife. During the game drive through the Savannah grassland of Akagera national park, you should watch out for animals like the Lions, Leopards, elephants, antelopes and many more.

After the game drive, you will have lunch, and in the afternoon you will go for a boat ride onthe Akagera River in search for water loving animals like the hippos and crocodiles. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive. We shall return to Kigali, and you will continue your journey to Musanze, the second largest town in Rwanda, with its stunning backdrop of five volcanic mountains – The Virungas.

Arrive at Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Centre for lunch before joining the local brew makers to understand the chemistry of the process of brewing a local beer from bananas. 

If you find the activity interesting enough, you can join the women in squeezing the juice out of the bananas and drink a glass of juice (optional). Understand how long juice takes to turn into alcohol after adding in sorghum flour.

Enjoy a big glass of our local brew if you feel like it! Among other activities, they also do basket weaving in this local community, an activity which supports local families financially. Later, drive to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters together with your packed lunch early enough to be briefed about the code of conduct while with the gorillas.

This will be followed by entering the forest in search of the gorillas in the forest which may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle. 

Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. After gorilla trekking, you will be transferred to Lake Kivu for relaxation.

After your breakfast at your hotel, you can choose to relax at Lake Kivu, or you can choose to take a boat ride in the traditional dugout canoes and listen to the ‘sea stories”. 

The place is teaming with water birds like pelicans sailing, Grey crowned cranes, pied and malachite kingfishers above the shore waiting to catch their next meal.

Later, you will be transferred to Kigali for your flight back home.
