After arriving at the gates of Tarangire National Park, we’ll set off on a game-viewing drive. With nine distinct vegetation zones ranging from grassland to woodland, from deep gully vegetation to scattered rocky hilltops, Tarangire offers a diverse geological landscape, as well as diverse wildlife—including the largest recorded concentration of breeding bird species in the world. Baobab trees dot the landscape, and the valley of the Tarangire River dominates the entire scene.

You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and unflooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals, including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra, along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena.
The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos, while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. After lunch, you leave the crater behind and drive to the Serengeti National Park.

Leave camp after breakfast with a picnic lunch packed safely and depart this morning for game viewing in the Serengeti, exploring the western reaches of the Serengeti on safari, tracking the great migration and other game and wildlife that this vast area offers. The great migration is on the western side in the months of June and July, where the drama unfolds with thousands of wildebeest concentrating along the Grumeti River to quench their thirst. These are the times to look for those 18-20-foot crocodiles hunting in the silent waters. The area is also home to elephants, lions, cheetahs, hippos, baboons, topi, hyenas, and a great number of birds have been recorded here. It’s also an area of untamed natural beauty, rolling hills, rivers, forests, and open plains. The camp is set in an area which offers excellent proximity to the river, giving you more time to enjoy the migration without hurry.
