What to know before going on your gorilla trekking?
- Never make eye contact with the Silverback, if a Silverback begins to get aggressive, look down immediately and take a submissive posture by sitting.
- Your guide will instruct you not to touch gorillas because they are susceptible to catching human colds or diseases.
- Bring a camera that does not have a flashlight or you can turn it off, as a flash photograph is not allowed.
- Please note that children under the age of 15 years are not allowed, or anyone with flu or other sicknesses that might be transmitted to the gorillas.
- Each gorilla visit will be limited to a maximum of only 1 hour, once a day.
- Bring plenty of water
- Be prepared for hiking from 1-6 hours each way
- Make sure you have rain-protecting gear and wear good hiking boots.
- An extra set of cloth left in the car might be helpful.
- Gloves are recommended as protection from the stinging nettles in a bush which can cause swelling, for the same reason wear long pants and long sleeve shirt for the hikes.
- Please use waterproof bags {NO PLASTIC} to keep your equipment dry, and make sure your camera is protected in a waterproof container.

- Total silence should be observed all the time
- No smoking, eating, or pointing at the gorillas
- Do not stand above the guide so if he kneels, you also kneel
- Follow the guide’s action all the time
- Move slowly and be calm at all times
- If a Silverback charges DON’T run
