9 Days Tanzania Wildlife and Culture Safari

Overview

This Tanzania safari tour gives you the opportunity to explore three famous parks of the northern circuit. It includes Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro where you get to see the big five. The wildebeest calving in the southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro is an amazing natural wonder to be explored, the beautiful events that take place in the southern short grass plains. You will also enjoy interacting with local people which will enlighten you about their culture

Day by Day

Day 1:
Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park.

We will start the first day of the tour after breakfast. You will drive west on the well-constructed road along the Maasai plains with scattered acacia trees. You will pass through many Maasai villages. This will give you the chance to see Maasai people in their colorful traditional dress. You can see them on the roadside, riding bicycles, herding cattle, and driving overcrowded donkey carts. It is a two hours drive to reach Mtowambu. In Mtowambu you will walk with your local guide along with rice fields, banana farms, and Makonde carving which is famous for ebony wood carving, and at the end will reach a local beer brew. After you finish your lunch, we will take you to Manyara Park for an afternoon game drive. There is a beautiful underground forest with water seeping from the rift valley escarpment. You can find many wild animals like hippos, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, blue monkeys, baboons, etc. There will be an overnight stay at Manyara Tortillis tented camp where you will enjoy your dinner

Day 2:
Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park

We leave the camp early in the morning to meet the big pride of East Africa safari- the lions. The Seronera Valley is the best place to find lions in the central part. If you wish to see leopards, hyenas, jackals, topi, and Thomson gazelles you are in the right place. During the dry season, you get the sighting of the cheetah. After a short break, to take lunch at the camp, we will head to drive around the Seronera River. It will treat your eyes with hippos, elephants, baboons, and exotic birds. We will return to Serengeti wilderness camp before dinner to finish the day.

Day 3:
Central Serengeti National Park

A full day of game driving around the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the location of the great migration herds, you may see huge numbers of wildebeest, big cats, hyenas, and other predators near to them – looking to hunt an easy meal. All year round you can see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and many birds and other species of animals.

Day 4:
Central Serengeti to Southern Short Grass Plains

A morning drive around the Moru Kopjes will give you a sighting of black rhinos and lions. From Moru Kopjes we head towards the southern short grass plain to visit Ndutuis where wildebeest come to drop their babies. After a busy safari day, there will be an overnight stay at Ndutu safari lodge to relax and enjoy your dinner

Day 5:
Southern Short Grass Plains

We will take you for a morning and afternoon drive around the beautiful Ndutu River. This tour gives you an opportunity to witness the biggest predator’s interaction when migration takes place. You can also see wildebeest calving which will amaze you. This place is famous for cheetah hunting so you can explore your skills. The beautiful exotic wild animals like lions, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, giraffes, etc. will give you an experience of a lifetime. You can also find flamingos, vultures, and dung beetles around Lake Ndutu and Masaki add to its beauty. When you see beautiful sunrise and sunset you feel contented. After a wonderful day, you can have your dinner and stay at Ndutu safari lodge.

Day 6:
Southern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Adrive at the Ngorongoro conservation area in the morning will give you an opportunity to see wildebeest mothers dropping their babies and hunting wild predators. We will drive through the Makao area to get a rare sighting of endangered wild dogs. You will spend the night at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge and have your dinner.

Takes place. You can also see wildebeest calving which will amaze you. This place is famous for cheetah hunting so you can explore your skills. The beautiful exotic wild animals like lions, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, giraffes, etc. will give you an experience of a lifetime. You can also find flamingos, vultures, and dung beetles around Lake Ndutu and Masaki add to its beauty. When you see beautiful sunrise and sunset you feel contented. After a wonderful day, you can have your dinner and stay at Ngorongoro Tortillis camp.

Day 7:
Ngorongoro Crater

We will leave the camp after an early breakfast and head for the eighth wonder where you will find the largest combination of wildlife in East Africa Safari. You can find approximately 30,000 large mammals here. It is one of the best sanctuaries of East Africa Safari to see black rhinos. There are many other wild animals like lions, hyenas, jackals, hippos, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, and wildebeest in this reserve. After lunch, we will drive to the Ngorongoro conservation area in the south to visit Tanzania’s largest soda lake. Explorers sometimes visit the remote areas which are home to Hadzabe Bushmen and the Datoga tribe. The language of the Hadzabe Bushmen is quite similar to the Bushmen of South Africa. The men use bows and arrows for hunting in the daytime whereas women collect wild fruits, roots, and tubers.

We will take a walk along the soda lake in the afternoon to see beautiful flamingos.

Day 8:
Lake Eyasi

We will leave the camp with a local guide for hunting at five in the morning. He will take you to one of their camps where you join other members for hunting. After an exciting experience of hunting the guide will take you to one of their camps. You can try your hands at shooting with arrows. The guide will take you to the blacksmith village where you can see the Datonga tribe making arrows. After an exciting cultural tour, we will return to the camp for brunch. We start our drive to Karatu for an overnight stay at a plantation farm lodge /similar and for a peaceful dinner with lovely memories

Day 9:
Elephant Cave to Arusha Town

We start our drive after breakfast to head towards Gibbs farm gate. We will take a walk in the forest to the elephant cave where they come for the salt leak. If you are a bird lover this will give you an awesome experience to see birds chirping early in the morning. We will then proceed to meet the Iraqw tribe who have inhabited the surrounding Ngorongoro highlands for more than 200 years. You will get to see how the local beer is made. They consume it while working in the field or building houses for relaxation. They are skilled in making wedding skirts and houses which protect them from Maasai cattle raids. You will take your lunch at Gibbs Farm and then will drive back to Arusha.
